More than two thousand anti-personnel mines and improvised explosive devices were found by troops at the site, as well as abundant material for their manufacture.
Operations conducted by the Joint Task Force Omega in the department of Meta led to the finding of an illegal hideout in which explosive devices were manufactured and stored, these elements belong to the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r.
The troops arrived in the rural area of the village of La Albania, in the municipality of Vista Hermosa, where they found more than two thousand anti-personnel mines and improvised explosive devices, as well as abundant material for their manufacture, such as PVC pipes, safety fuse, detonators, cables, syringes and batteries.
The Explosive Devices Management Group Marte, under the respective security protocols, entered the area to destroy in controlled conditions the items found and discard more explosives.
This result neutralizes the intentions of the Jorge Briceño Suárez structure, under the command of alias Gentil Duarte, to attack the troops that exercise control in the region, by planting these mines indiscriminately, which becomes a violation of the provisions established in IHL.
