Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Plan, it was possible to find abundant war materiel, military accessories and communications equipment, with which terrorist operations were planned to be carried out in the south of Bolívar, in the midst of confrontations against other armed groups.
Troops of the Rapid Deployment Force Nº3, of the Second Division of Colombian National Army, in joint work with the Colombian Aerospace Force, coordinated with the National Police and thanks to intelligence work, carried out a search operation in the rural area of the municipality of San Pablo, south of the department of Bolívar.
Important war material, military accessories, communications and intelligence documents belonging to the GAO Clan del Golfo were found by troops in the place, which allegedly would be taken from Santander to the south of Bolívar to strengthen their armed structures, currently in confrontation with the GAO-ELN in this region of the country.
During the operation, an M16 rifle, multiple magazines, more than 360 cartridges of different calibers, equipment for the exclusive use of the Military Forces, communication radios and other elements that demonstrate the criminal capacity with which this organized armed group continues to beat the inhabitants through kidnappings, extortions, homicides and attacks against the Military Forces were seized.
This result of the military operation hits the armed structure of the GAO Clan del Golfo in a powerful way and neutralizes their expansion plans and territorial control, thus reducing the risk on the communities of the south of the department of Bolívar and the Middle Magdalena region.
