With the death of Alias Coyará, in development of military operations, troops have neutralized 53 ringleaders of organized armed groups, GAO, in Antioquia, Córdoba and Chocó Department during 2020. This individual would be the fifth ringleader of the GAO Los Caparros neutralized by the authorities.
Troops of the National Army, in development of joint military operations with the Colombian Air Force, coordinated with the National Police and assisting the recommendations of the early warning No.009 of 2018, could achieve the death in development of military operations of three individuals said to be members of the GAO Los Caparros.
This important result was possible because of the military operation that is conducted on the Lower Cauca Antioqueño region and the alerts generated by information networks, that led the soldiers of the National Army to arrive in the village La Esmeralda, in the rural area of the municipality of Cáceres, Antioquia, where they engaged a firefight against this GAO that commits crimes in the sector.
Alias Coyará, who would serve as head of finance, was 31 years old, and had been about 9 in the criminal organization. In his criminal record he would have been in charge of the focused criminal component and homicides in the municipality of Caucasia in 2018; subsequently, in 2019, he would have been responsible for generating illicit activities (drug trafficking, illegal exploitation of minelars and extortion). He was delegated by alias Flechas, second head of Gao Los Caparros, as head of finance.
This individual would in the same way be immersed in operations of armed proselytism, recruitment of minors, centralization of finances and confrontations with the GAO Clan del Golfo. His area of criminal interference would be the sectors La reserva, El Delirio, Puerto Lindo, El Taller and in the municipality of Piamonte de Cáceres, Antioquia.
During the military operation it was in the same way possible to find three rifles; a mortar with three grenades, material of military accessories and communications. After accompanying the process of urgent acts, the bodies were handed over to the judicial authorities for their identification process.
This result heavily hits the command and control of the armed structure of Los Caparros in the lower Cauca region in Antioquia. On the area where the military operation was carried out, the troops continue to search for the other criminals of this structure, with the aim of neutralizing their criminal intentions.
