With this result, the drug trafficking chain is hit and it contributes to the mitigation of the consumption of psychoactive substances, protecting the life and health of communities.
In the village of Quebrada Arriba, in the municipality of Copacabana, in Antioquia, troops of the Field Artillery Battalion No. 4, attached to the Fourth Brigade of Colombian National Army, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the National Police, carried out a coordinated military operation that led to the finding and controlled destruction of a clandestine laboratory used for the production of cocaine hydrochloride.
During the military operation, a structure used for the production of narcotic drugs was dismantled and the following material was seized: 64 kilos of solid cocaine hydrochloride, 76 gallons of suspended cocaine hydrochloride, 8 kilos of solid cocaine base, 18 gallons of suspended cocaine base, 536 gallons of liquid supplies, 110 kilos of solid supplies, 1 hydraulic press, 5 microwave ovens, 1 industrial stove, 1 gas cylinder, other elements used in the production of the drug.
Through this result, it was possible to significantly hit the finances of the Julio César Vargas Torres Substructure, of the organized armed group GAO Clan del Golfo, which commits crimes in this sector of the department, for an estimated cost of more than 5330 million pesos.
This blow to drug trafficking represents an important success in the fight against illegal armed groups that attack the security of communities and ecosystems in department of Antioquia.
