Nine arrested for illegal exploitation of mining deposit

Nueve capturados por explotación ilícita de yacimiento minero

It is an operation to reduce the environmental impact, protecting emblematic plant and animal specimens of the region.

Within the framework of the Amazonas Plan, the Ninth Brigade, through the Special Energy and Road Battalion No. 12, in a joint operation with the Air Force and inter-institutional with the Attorney General's Office and the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Alto Magdalena, CAM, dealt an important blow to illegal mining, arresting nine people and finding machinery used to extract gold.

During the operation that was carried out in the Las Vueltas villages, in the municipality of Hobo, 6 motor pumps were found by troops, valued at 30 million pesos, with which it is estimated that an average of 900 grams of gold were extracted per month, with an approximate cost of 300 million pesos.

The nine people arrested for the crimes of damage to natural resources and illegal exploitation and contamination of mining deposits were put into custody of the authority.

In Huila, the inter-institutional work to combat environmental crimes is permanent, hence the call to people to become aware of this type of illegal practices and provide timely information that contributes to safeguarding the planet.

An operation that mitigates the damage to the natural resources on the Pescado River, as well as the environmental rights of the communities surrounding the place of exploitation.
