With the purpose of bringing essential health services to hard-to-reach communities, the Colombian Aerospace Force, FAC, in coordination with the Pacific Heart Foundation and the National Navy, carried out a Humanitarian Medical Assistance Activity in the village of Termales, municipality of Nuquí.
The activity benefited 413 people of the villages of Arusí, Coquí, Panguí, Joví and other communities of the municipality, who received free care in various health specialties.
For four days, internal medicine, general medicine, psychology, gynecology, dermatology, dentistry, physiotherapy, pediatrics, among others, were provided, and 1066 medical assistance consultations significantly improving the well-being of the most vulnerable villages of the department.
For these communities, access to specialized medical assistance is limited, taking into account that the nearest health center is found in the urban area of Nuquí, a 45-minute boat ride from some of the aforementioned villages. Therefore, this type of missions represents a fundamental opportunity to work for ensuring basic rights and closing historical gaps in access to health services.
"Reaching the most remote places in the Pacific is a commitment that we assume with social responsibility. This joint operation shows that when wills and institutions come together, it is possible to transform realities and bring health closer to those who need it most,” said Carolina Velásquez, Director and General Coordinator of the Foundation.
The coordination conducted by different institutions such as the CES University, ECAR pharmaceutical Laboratories, the Foundation, the Colombian Aerospace Force and the National Navy reflects an inter-institutional work model that integrates resources and human talent to serve communities settled in remote territories, reaffirming the commitment to equity, inclusion and social wellbeing.
With operations like this one, the ties between the institutions and the communities of the Pacific region are strengthened, promoting an approach of solidarity, state services presence and social responsibility, fundamental for the sustainable development of the region.
