Under the Ayacucho Plus Operations Plan, National Army troops consolidate powerful results against residual organized armed groups in southeastern Colombia.
In the framework of sustained military operations in the Departments of Meta, Caquetá and Guaviare, troops of the Omega task force of Colombian National Army carried out 103 attacks against structures of residual organized armed groups, which directly hits criminal resources and contributes to the protection of inhabitants and territorial stability.
During the first quarter of 2026, the units conducted joint, coordinated, and interagency operations that led to significantly weakening these illegal organizations. As a result, 20 direct strikes were reported against its members, represented in 15 arrests, 3 surrenders to justice and 2 deaths in the framework of military operations.
As for the loss of its armed capacity, it was possible to confiscate 9 long-range weapons, 20 short-range weapons and about 2,000 cartridges of different calibers, reducing its firepower and limiting its criminal acts in the region.
In parallel, the troops intensified operations against the use of explosives, eliminating 137 items, including improvised explosive devices, anti-personnel mines, detonators and means of launching, mitigating risks to inhabitants and strengthening security in highly complex rural areas.
In the frontal fight against illicit activities, 33 laboratories for the production of coca base paste were destroyed, as well as 9 seedbeds, and in addition, 38,353 coca bushes in the productive stage were eradicated. In the same way, 2904 liquid precursors and 4733 solid precursors were confiscated, which has a powerful impact on the finances of these criminal structures.
Among the most relevant results of the military operation is the arrest of alias Mosca, explosives expert of the Jorge Suárez Briceño bloc, in the village Laureles, municipality of La Macarena, Department of Meta, as well as the arrest of alias Joiner, second ringleader of the Marco Aurelio Buendía structure, in the village Nueva Colombia, in Vista Hermosa, Department of Meta. In this same municipality, in the Alto Caño Cafra village, two members of this structure were eliminated, among them alias La Gorda, alias Patepalo's security chief.
In the same way, in the village Puerto Cubarro, municipality of Calamar, Department of Guaviare, it was possible to obtain the voluntary surrender of a member of the Amazon bloc. Similarly, in the Cerritos village, municipality of el Retorno, Department of Guaviare, an illegal hideout with explosive elements that retained a direct threat to the inhabitants was destroyed.
These results complement the operations carried out in strategic areas such as Puerto Rico, La Macarena and San José del Guaviare, where the logistical, armed and financial resources of these illegal structures have been hit in a sustained manner.
The Omega task force, composed of about 5,000 men and women, will continue to carry out permanent military operations with the aim of protecting life, working for security and consolidating stability in southeastern Colombia.
