Within the framework of river operations, three excavators were seized and three Mining Production Units that were allegedly being used for illegal exploitation of mining sites were destroyed.
The Colombian Navy within the framework of joint operations against the illicit exploitation of mining deposits, neutralized the criminal intentions of structures of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo in the departments of Bolivar and Antioquia specialized in this illegal activity.
In the first operation that took place in the municipality of Pinillos in the department of Bolívar, units of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 17 attached to the Navy Infantry Brigade No.1 of the Caribbean Naval Force, seized three excavators that were being transported on a ferry-type ship on the Magdalena River. During the, the authorities saw that the person responsible for the elements did not present the documentation sought for the transport and legality of the machinery, including import documents, transit documentation and certifications required for this type of equipment, so he was put into custody of the authorities.
According to intelligence information, the machinery would allegedly be used for activities of illegal exploitation of mining deposits; this operation hits the illegal activities of the criminal substructure Erlin Pino Duarte of this Organized Armed Group.
Simultaneously, on the Murrí River, in the municipality of Vigía del Fuerte in Antioquia, troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 16, in coordination with units of Colombian National Army and the Colombian Aerospace Force, found and intervened three Mining Production Units used for illegal mining activities.
During this operation, an excavator, two industrial diesel engines, three motor pumps, two metal mining classifiers, 2,500 meters of hose and approximately 1,600 gallons of diesel were destroyed. According to intelligence information, this element would be used by members of the Carlos Vásquez substructure, for illicit activities related to the illicit exploitation of minerals.
