Operation against residual structures support networks in Neiva leaves three arrested

Operación contra redes de apoyo a estructuras residuales en Neiva deja tres capturados

Inter-institutional actions led to striking the Ismael Ruiz structure of the Isaías Pardo Central Bloc and weakening its criminal projection in the south of the country.

Within the framework of coordinated operations conducted by the Ninth Brigade of Colombian National Army, through the Field Artillery Battalion No. 9 Tenerife and the National Police, in the early morning of April 23 of this year acts were carried out in the rural area of the municipality of Neiva, and the arrest of three alleged members of the support networks for residual structures (RAER) of the residual organized armed group, GAO-r, Ismael Ruiz of the Isaías Pardo Central Bloc.

The result was made possible thanks to an inter-institutional intelligence process that led to the prosecution of those involved, through the execution of three search and arrest warrants issued by the Attorney General's Office, including georeferencing and technical finding on the ground.

During the proceedings they were arrested by court order:

Alias Sombrerón, alleged ringleader of RAEr in the Pradera village, rural area of Neiva.

Alias Moisa or Moises, alleged ringleader RAEr in the village of Chapinero, Neiva.

Alias Borojó, alleged RAEr member in rural area of the municipality of Neiva.

According to the investigations, these individuals would have interference in criminal intelligence activities, logistical support and coordination, storage of war elements and permanent liaison with the armed component of the illegal structure.

Alias Sombrerón would be considered a key actor within the organization, with influence in communities of the village of Aipecito, from where he allegedly exerted restraint on the inhabitants, coordinated logistical activities and pointed out possible victims of extortion. In addition, he would have criminal experience since 2023 and a background as a member of the Angelino Godoy Front 66 of the defunct FARC.

For its part, alias Moisa would lead support activities in the village of Chapinero, while alias Borojó would conduct liaison and logistical support functions in his areas of interference.

The three arrested would be in charge of facilitating the entry of armed groups, coordinating supplies, transportation and intimidation activities against merchants, including the distribution of pamphlets alluding to the illegal armed group.

Operation scope:

The operation managed to significantly affect the criminal capacity of the Isaías Pardo Central Bloc, weakening its intention to consolidate a strategic mobility route conducted by the departments of Cauca, Tolima and Huila, as well as its illicit activities based on extortion. In the same way, its logistical, intelligence and territorial control resources are reduced, limiting acts of intimidation to the inhabitants and the strengthening of its armed structure in the region.

During the proceedings, a 38-caliber revolver-type firearm, 5 38-mm caliber cartridges, 6 uniforms exclusively used by the Military Forces, a metal magazine and a roll of detonating cord were seized.

Those arrested were removed of the operations area and put into custody of the authority, where they will have to answer for the alleged crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes, manufacturing, trafficking and carrying of weapons and ammunition for the exclusive use of the Military Forces.

These results represent a significant blow against the logistical and expansion resources of the Isaías Pardo Central Bloc, weakening its intentions to consolidate strategic routes, as well as its illicit activities based on extortion and other criminal activities.
