The operation conducted by Colombian National Army led to the arrest of three of its members, the surrender to justice of four more and the recovery of two minors who were by force part of this residual armed group.
These blows are the result of the monitoring of military intelligence and the decisive operations carried out by the troops of the Nineteenth Brigade of Colombian National Army in the south of Bolivar. The operations are part of the Ayacucho Plus 2025 Plan, whose objective is the stabilization of the territory.
The first military operation carried out by soldiers of the 48th Selva Battalion hit the 37th Front in the municipality of Santa Rosa, south of Bolívar. There it was possible for alias José, alleged member of the armed component of the criminal organization, to surrender to justice.
Subsequently, in the municipality of Morales, thanks to the joint work of the Urban Special Forces Battalion No. 1 and in coordination with the National Police, three alleged members of the same illegal armed group were arrested. Among those arrested is alias Sebastian, who apparently would be the head of the Support Network for the Residual Structure (RAER), in charge of collecting money from extortion against peasants and merchants. In the same way alias Mono and alias Veneco were arrested, both identified as alleged members of the group.
After these arrests and continuing with the intelligence work, there was the surrender to justice of three other alleged members and the recovery of two minors who were an active part of this illegal organization.
The people who distributed to justice will take refuge in the Humanitarian Assistance Group for the Demobilized. As for those arrested, they remained into custody of the authorities, as well as the minors for the restoration of their rights.
This result of the military operation not only contributes to the reduction of crime, but in the same way weakens the ability of this group to act outlaw. A decrease in extortions and threats to merchants and ranchers is expected, which will lead to a safer economic development and free of illegal pressures in the region.
