In joint and coordinated operations with the National Army and the National Police, the Colombian Navy found and destroyed four rudimentary dredges used for the illegal exploitation of mining deposits in the departments of Antioquia and Bolivar
The operations were carried out by units of the Navy's River Infantry Battalion No. 17, attached to the Aquiles and Marte Joint Task Forces, units of the National Army and the National Police in the municipalities of Caucasia, C谩ceres and Nech铆 in Antioquia and in the municipality of Ach铆, Bol铆var.
In the operation were seized 700 grams of mercury and eight engines, which were put into custody of the authorities.
These operations affect the finances of Organized Armed Groups (GAO) Clan del Golfo and Los Caparros, who no longer receive in their coffers 10 million pesos, product of this illicit business.
