The deployment of troops in the south of the department of Cesar has led to securing the region from possible attacks and intimidation against the inhabitants.
Troops of the Infantry Battalion Nº 14 Captan Antonio Ricaurte in coordination with the National Security Investigation Agency of the United States and the Investigative Unit of Transnational Crimes, hit in a powerful way the organized gang Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra Nevada, in the rural area of San Alberto, Cesar, on the borders with the Department of Norte de Santander.
In the first operation, the powerful deployment of the troops, in the village of Los Cedros de la Esperanza, Department of Norte de Santander, resulted in the arrest of two alleged members of this gang and the finding of two handguns and cartridges.
On the other hand, in the village of Monserrate, in the municipality of San Alberto, Cesar, the soldiers in the same way found two small firearms, rifle magazines, ammunition of different caliber, three grenade-type ammunition, a pickup truck, a shotgun, more than 890 cartridges of different caliber, magazines, cell phones and military accessories.
The events occurred after intelligence work confirmed the activity of armed individuals on the sector, which led to a tactical and strategic military operation planning to neutralize in a timely manner the intentions of those to expand their criminal activities to other departments in order to attack the Military Forces, intimidate the inhabitants and hit the tranquility of the region.
This work is part of a sustained work that has been conducted at the south of Cesar, to contain the actors of the conflict that put the security of the territory at risk and also to reaffirm the institutional commitment to the preservation of the good physical condition of the citizens and the well-being of the families of these municipalities that border the department of Santander and are key to the department of Cesar.
