The Colombian Navy, within the framework of joint operations with Colombian National Army, reports the finding and dismantling of four drug laboratories, as well as the finding of liquid and solid supplies costing more than 600 million pesos, which would be used for the production of illicit substances.
The procedures were carried out in the municipality of Carmen del Darién - department of Chocó, where the four structures in which coca paste base production areas operated were found by troops.
In the same way, in the municipalities of Pinillos, in Bolívar; Gamarra and La Gloria, in Cesar, on the waters of the Atrato River in Quibdó, in Chocó, and in Barrancabermeja, Santander, Navy Infantry troops found more than 22 thousand gallons of gasoline, 26 thousand gallons of DIESEL and 97 tons of cement. Through the inspections carried out on the boats and vehicles on the land and river roads of the Colombian Caribbean, it was evident that this material did not have the documentation sought for its transportation, and that it could be used for the production of drugs, for which it was put into custody of the authorities in these municipalities. No arrests were made during the operations.
These operations demonstrate the institutional effectiveness of the strategies in the fight against drug trafficking, significantly weakening the logistical structures of the criminal groups that commit crimes in the Colombian Caribbean region. In the same way, the commitment to environmental protection is reaffirmed, since the illegal manipulation and use of these precursors generates a negative impact on local ecosystems.
