In order to strengthen inter-institutional coordination in the face of possible threats to citizen security, the Orion Plan was carried out in the municipality of Puerto Salgar, Cundinamarca. The exercise led by Air Combat Command No. 1 of the Colombian Aerospace Force, had the participation of Colombian National Army, the National Police, the National Penitentiary and Prison Institute, INPEC, in addition to the mayoralties of both Puerto Salgar, Cundinamarca, and La Dorada, Caldas.
The training, which is carried out on a biannual basis, aims to evaluate the reaction and coordination capacity of the institutions that deal with problems such as kidnappings, hitmen and money theft. This year, the simulated environment contemplated the kidnapping of a minor, testing the response protocols and the effectiveness of the deployment of the military operation.
On this occasion, the exercise had as an environment the facilities of the Departmental School Policarpa Salavarrieta, where an individual, on board a motorcycle, took a minor, being captured by surveillance cameras. Immediately, the Padlock Plan was activated with the support of the La Dorada and Puerto Salgar Police.
These operations seek to increase the security of the inhabitants through continuous improvement in reaction times and effective coordination of the institutions involved. The joint participation of the branches demonstrates the commitment to the protection and well-being of the community.
