This operation in the same way led to the arrest of an alleged member of the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Comandos de Frontera.
As part of the permanent river control carried out to weaken the illicit finances of the drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in the region, the Colombian Navy, in a joint and coordinated operation with Colombian National Army, the Colombian Aerospace Force and the National Police, seized more than 800 kilograms of marijuana in the department of Putumayo. During the procedure, it was possible to arrest a man in flagrante delicto, an alleged member of the Residual Organized Armed Group Comandos de Frontera.
Thanks to intelligence information provided by the Amazon Fusion Center, a boat was searched at the Esmeralda Dock, in the municipality of Puerto Asís, department of Putumayo, where the troops found the illegal merchandise, which was distributed in several rectangular packages.
The Approved Preliminary Identification Test was carried out on the material found, confirming that it was 895 kilograms of marijuana.
This result represents economic losses exceeding five million dollars, dealing a powerful blow to the financial structure of the Residual Organized Armed Group - GAOr- Comandos de Frontera.
The arrested man and the material found were put into custody of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office 183, to continue with the prosecution process.
