Insecurity and abandonment had taken over this sector, however, local authorities, together with the soldiers, are seeking to transform it into a safe place for economic and cultural development.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan, the National Army and delegates of the Secretariat of the Environment and the public service company Ibagu茅 Limpia, began joining their efforts in an activity of cleaning and beautification of the hill, a not easy task due to the deterioration in which the place was; and also, in addition, due to the discontent of its inhabitants facing common crime and the consumption of hallucinogenic substances.
This viewpoint aims to be one of the most important tourist places of the musical city, and at the same time, a religious place for pilgrims during Holy Week, where at the end of the tour they will find a sculpture of the Virgin Mary that was transferred to the top of the hill by a helicopter of the National Army more than 20 years ago.
"It is an honor to continue with the historical mission of protecting life and the environment through the recovery of Cerro Pan de Az煤car. These activities are a small step in the possibility of transforming the hill into a tourist and development place for the region. Our commitment is to work on projects that lead citizens to generate resources specific to their culture and their municipality," explained Major Edgar Ricardo Chisco Porras, second commander of the Comprehensive Action and Development Support Battalion No.5.
Other cleaning, restoration, adaptations and more activities are planned for these first three months of the year, to give agility to the presentation of the project.
