A pink dolphin that was at risk of death due to the low level of the Pauto River, was rescued and later released in the Meta River, near the municipality of Orocu茅 (Casanare).

The operation was coordinated by the Corporaci贸n Aut贸noma Regional de la Orinoquia (Corporinoquia) and involved units of the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Air Force in Eastern Colombia, as well as personnel of the Omacha Foundation and society in general.

The titanic mission began in the municipality of Brisas del Pauto, Pore (Casanare), where the specimen remained stranded for more than a month. There the dolphin was extracted of the river and then transported on board a truck to Paz de Ariporo, where an Air Force aircraft was waiting to take it to the municipality of Orocu茅, under all safety measures and preservation of life. Finally, the dolphin was successfully released into the waters of the Meta River.

This aquatic mammal, scientifically known as Inia geoffrensis, has its habitat not only in Colombia, but in the same way in Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela, and has been listed as endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

The Colombian Navy through Infantry Brigade No.5, attached to the Eastern Naval Force, confirms its commitment to the conservation and protection of the environment, carrying out operations that protect the fauna and flora of the country.
