During coordinated operations conducted by the Colombian Navy and the National Police, it was possible to arrest five people, including a woman, as well as notify three individuals in prison centers, who allegedly were part of the Nicolás Urango Reyes substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
Marine Infantry troops of the Colombian Navy and units of the National Police, in the departments of Bolívar and Sucre, arrested alias El Flaco or El Pollo, Fredy Soto, Gafas, José or Mompirry, and alias La Flaca. At the same time, three members of this criminal organization were notified in prisons. This, in compliance with the arrest orders issued by the Second Municipal Criminal Court of Cartagena, for the alleged crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes and extortion. The individuals were put into custody of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office 7 of Cartagena.
According to the investigations, these individuals would be responsible for the collection of money from extortions made against ranchers, farmers and merchants of the Montes de María subregion, especially harming the companies that carry out their commercial operations in this territory.
