Powerful operation against the illegal exploitation of a mining deposit

Acción contundente contra la explotación ilícita de yacimiento minero

In a joint and coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Aerospace Force, the Army and the National Police, a powerful operation was possible against the illegal exploitation of a mining deposit in the Maranal village, municipality of Puerto Boyacá, department of Boyacá, whose objective was to mitigate environmental damage and weaken the illegal activities of outlaw groups operations in the area.

 

During the intervention, eight alleged perpetrators were arrested, put into custody of the authorities for the crime of illegal exploitation of mining deposits and other materials. Four clandestine mining production units were in the same way disabled at the site, along with two backhoes, seven industrial engines and two motor pumps used in the illegal practice.

 

The results of this operation represents significant economic damage to the so called Pacificadores de Samaná substructure of the Organized Armed Group,  GAO, Clan del Golfo, estimated at approximately 1,000 million pesos, in the same way reaffirms the commitment of the Military and Police Forces to protect the country's natural heritage.
