Conducting manual demining tasks in the municipality of La Macarena, Meta, soldiers of the Battalion of Engineers of Humanitarian Demining No.4, cleared more than 1,500 square meters of the Agua Azul hamlet.

In the area that was suspected of contamination, the military found 148 units of unexploded ordnance near a house. These explosives were destroyed with the support of the EXDE-Delta Group of the Rapid Deployment Task Force No.1.

The clearing of the area that was an imminent threat to the members of one of the families in the sector, benefits directly 10 inhabitants and indirectly 540 people who can now mobilize and plant again their products.

According to information of the Directorate for Comprehensive Action against Antipersonnel Mines - Descontamina Colombia, the municipality of La Macarena reports 100 victims of antipersonnel mines, 80 are members of the Security forces and 20 are civilians.
