Private Jhony Alexander Salazar Campo

 

 

The Rapid Deployment Force No.3, a unit attached to the Second Division of the National Army, informs:

 

1. On the morning of Thursday, February 23, troops of Rapid Deployment Battalion No.9, while they were carrying out a territorial control operation, they were harassed by sniper fire in the village of La Taya, municipality of San Calixto, Norte de Santander.

 

As a result of this criminal operation, a Soldier was allegedly attacked by the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN, in a vile and cowardly action that violates human rights.

 

2. Immediately, the military rescuers provided first aid to our man, who was evacuated to a medical center in Ocaña, to be assisted by specialized medical personnel.

 

Despite the efforts, the soldier Jhony Alexander Salazar Campo died.

 

3. This Command emphatically repudiates the murder of our soldier, a hero of the Homeland who gave his life in the line of duty. In the same way, it will make the corresponding denunciations before the judicial authorities.

 

4. The men and women of this Command and the Institution pray for the eternal rest of our soldier and send a message of condolences and accompaniment to his family and partners.
