Honor and glory for two specialist soldiers killed by the GAO Eln in Arauca
The command of the Eighteenth Brigade, unit of the Eighth Division of Colombian National Army, informs :
1.Units of the Eighteenth Brigade that were carrying out search and area control tasks in the sector known as El Consuelo, municipality of Saravena, Arauca, for the protection of the inhabitants, were hit by an explosive device planted by alleged members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN.
2. As a result of this operation that violates human rights and violates international humanitarian law, specialist soldiers Carlos Andrés Marín Díaz and Manuel Alexander Benítez Rosado were killed; three more were injured, and they were evacuated to receive specialized medical assistance.
3. The reinforcement units were deployed to the sector, with the aim of strengthening security and finding out the whereabouts of the perpetrators of the action.
4. We deeply regret the murder of the soldiers and send our sincere condolences to the families and partners of the soldiers, for whom a multidisciplinary accompaniment team was sent to provide support at this difficult time.
5. We reject and denounce these acts that attack the good physical condition of men and put the inhabitants of the sector at risk.
