The General Command of the Colombian Military Forces is addressing the public to reaffirm its unwavering commitment to the defense of democracy, respect for the Constitution and the strengthening of the social rule of law.
Our mission, established in Article 217 of the Constitution, focuses on working to promote sovereignty, independence, security of the national territory and the constitutional order, for the benefit of all Colombians.
Historically, soldiers, sailors and airmen have worked tirelessly for security, the defense of the territory and the protection of the Colombian people, with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment. In the exercise of these functions, we respect the constitutional responsibilities of the National Government, always acting within the legal framework, with transparency and discipline.
We reiterate that the Military Forces are not deliberative, in accordance with article 219 of the Constitution. This neutrality leads us to carry out our mission impartially, ensuring that every operation is guided by the supreme commitment to serve and protect Colombia.
