The Command of the Third Division of Colombian National Army informs:
1. In military operations aimed at restoring order and security in the Micay Canyon, department of Cauca, troops carrying out security missions to work for the transit of a military bridge towards the village La Hacienda, were attacked. The original bridge had been destroyed by members of the Carlos Pati帽o structure of the residual organized armed group, on March 3, 2025, by a terrorist attacked with explosives.
2. This event took place in a rural area of the municipality of Balboa, where the units were attacked with an explosive device that had been buried in one of the sides of the road. This terrorist act, apparently was perpetrated by members of the residual organized armed group Carlos Pati帽o Structure and leaves at the moment two non-commissioned officers and three specialist soldiers killed, three specialist soldiers seriously injured and 13 who do not present blows of consideration. The personnel hit by the explosive wave were evacuated of the sector in a timely manner and receive specialized medical assistance in nearby centers in the region.
3. We regret the murder of members of the Military Forces and send a respectful message of solidarity and condolence to their families and relatives at this difficult time.
4. A multidisciplinary team of Colombian National Army accompanied the families of the deceased and injured to provide them with comprehensive support during this process.
5. Colombian National Army, in coordination with the other Military and Police Forces, continues to conduct operations in the area to establish the whereabouts of those responsible for this criminal attack and ensure the safety of the inhabitants.
6. We reiterate our unwavering commitment to work for peace and security in the Colombian southwest, honoring the memory of heroes fallen in the line of duty. While illegal armed groups sow terror, we will continue to build a future of hope and stability for the most vulnerable communities.
