Hero forever Soldier Miguel Angel Palacios Conde
1. Around midnight on July 12, 2022, soldiers of the Jungle Battalion No.54, were attacked with rifle fire while conducting a ground movement, in the municipality of Chigorodó, Antioquia.
2. According to initial information, this attack would have been perpetrated by GAO support substructure Carlos Vásquez, of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
3. As a result of this terrorist operation, our soldier Miguel Ángel Palacios Conde was killed and four more soldiers were wounded, who were immediately assisted by the combat nurses and, subsequently, taken to a hospital where they are recovering satisfactorily.
4. The institution regrets the murder of our soldier, who was carrying out operations to protect the communities of the region, inhabitants that become victims of the criminals in the zone, while sending a respectful message of solidarity and condolences to his family and partners.
5. This Command will provide the necessary support to the Attorney General's Office, in order to bring to justice those responsible for the murder of our military as soon as possible.
6. The National Army will intensify the operation, in order to neutralize the members of this criminal organization and other organized armed groups that alter the security and tranquility of the inhabitants in this area of the department of Antioquia.
