1. Today, Sunday, June 19 in the year 2022, at noon, six soldiers who were part of the security operation, and which were carrying out operations of military control of the area, in support of the electoral process in the village of Vetas, rural area of the municipality of Tibú, Norte de Santander, were hit by the blast of an improvised explosive device that would have been planted by the Organised Armed Group, GAO, Eln.
2. As reported, our soldiers were slightly injured and were immediately evacuated by air to a medical center in the city of Cúcuta, where at this time they are receiving specialized medical assistance.
3. This Command, once it has knowledge of this vile and cowardly fact, activated the different protocols of accompaniment to the relatives of our men, we hope they have a speedy recovery.
4. We repudiate this cowardly operation that violates human rights and violates the provisions of international humanitarian law by using unconventional means of war. In the same way, the denunciation will be filed with the competent authorities, since these organized armed groups continue to install explosive devices indiscriminately to attack civilians and Military Forces.
5. We will spare no effort to find those responsible for this action and we reaffirm our commitment to continue with the operations against the drug trafficking chain, which prevent achieving the consolidation and stability of the territory in Norte de Santander.
