The Command of the Joint Task Force MARTE, a unit of the First Division of the National Army, informs:
1. Today, May 11, 2022, in the evening hours, troops of the Infantry Battalion No.4, who conduct military operations in the caño La Mula sector, municipality of Montecristo, Bolívar, were attacked by individuals who would be members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, front Luis Fernando Gutiérrez.
2. In this criminal operation, a soldier was killed, and a non-commissioned officer, six professional soldiers and a National Police officer were wounded, who were immediately assisted by combat nurses and later taken by air to a specialized hospital where they receive medical assistance.
3. At the moment, military operations are under way to find the whereabouts of the perpetrators of the vile action. In the same way, the respective denunciation was made to the Attorney General's Office for violations of the international humanitarian law and violation of human rights.
4. This Command rejects these criminal operations and sends a heartfelt message of solidarity and condolences to the family and partners of this courageous hero of the homeland, who served until his last breath in fulfillment of the constitutional mission, in order to safeguard the people in the department of Bolivar.
