Captain Andrey Alberto Bonilla Rocha
The Rapid Deployment Force Command No.3, military unit of the Second Division, regrets to report:
1. Troops of the Direct operation Battalion No.8, were conducting military area control operations in the municipality of Las Mercedes, in the municipality of Convenci贸n, Norte de Santander. One of our men was attacked indiscriminately by a sniper, apparently member of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN, Northeastern War Front.
2. In this cowardly terrorist operation, Captain Andrey Alberto Bonilla Rocha was killed. This hero of the homeland, born in Bogot谩, was in the institution for 15 years, and had several recognitions for his performance in operations.
3. Once the events occurred, our combat nurses immediately provided him with first aid, but despite their efforts, he died on the place.
4. At this time, military operations are being carried out in order to find the whereabouts of those responsible for this reprehensible terrorist act that violates human rights and violates international humanitarian law. The corresponding denunciation will be filed with the competent authorities.
5. This Command sends a message of condolences and solidarity to the relatives and partners of our hero fallen in the line of duty, and will spare no effort to find these terrorists who are part of these structures that have done so much damage to the inhabitants of Norte de Santander.
