Press release

The Command of Task Force Vulcano, a military unit of the Second Division of the National Army, informs:

1. Today, Saturday, March 26, 2022, in the morning, when the troops were carrying out work to eradicate illicit plantations in the village of Chinquirá, rural area of the municipality of Tibú, Norte de Santander, a minefield with improvised explosive devices was activated; it would have been planted by the residual organized armed group Structure 33.

2. In this incident, two of our soldiers were injured, who were immediately evacuated by air to a medical center in the city of Cúcuta, where at this time they are receiving specialized medical assistance.

3. This Command, once knew this vile and cowardly fact, activated the different protocols of accompaniment to the relatives of our men, who we hope they have a speedy recovery.

4. We repudiate this cowardly operation that violates human rights and violates the provisions of international humanitarian law by using unconventional means of war. In the same way, the denunciation is being filed with the competent authorities, since organized armed groups continue to install explosive devices indiscriminately to attack civilians and Military Forces.

5. We will spare no effort to find those responsible for this action and we reaffirm our commitment to continue to conduct operations against the drug trafficking chain, which will secure the consolidation and stability of the territory in Norte de Santander.
