The Command of the Third Division of the National Army informs:
1. In events that are the subjects of investigation, in facilities of the Instruction, Training and recurrent training Battalion No.29, in the municipality of Patía, Cauca, while a shooting training exercise and artillery systems exercise was being conducted, a failure took place when firing a grenade.
2. In this incident, three soldiers were injured and two bruised, one by a shrapnel in the ankle and the other by stunning, who were taken to the El Bordo hospital, where they are being assisted and according to the preliminary medical report they do not have serious injuries.
3. At the moment, an inspection team sent by the National Army Command is on the move, with a team of experts, who will verify the processes and procedures carried out in this exercise.
4. This Command will initiate the corresponding internal investigation, in order to clarify the situation and take the correspondent actions.
5. We send a message of support to the families of our men who were hit by the event, and we continue to provide all the support during their medical evolution.
