The Quiron Task Force, a military unit of the Eighth Division of the National Army, reports:
1. Last Tuesday night, March 22, troops of the Special Energy and Road Battalion No.14, thwarted a terrorist operation intended to be carried out by the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN, Grupo Omaria Montoya Henao, against the installations of the military base in the urban area of Fortul, Arauca.
2. Immediately and thanks to the timely reaction of the troops, it was possible to neutralize the vehicle containing launching pads which prevented attacks on the military personnel or the facilities.
3. This command heavily rejects this new attempt of terrorist attack by organized armed groups that continue to use unconventional weapons, which becomes a flagrant violation of human rights and violation of international humanitarian law, putting at risk the civilians who live in the sector. These facts will be reported to the authorities.
4. At this time, military operations are conducted in coordination with the police, to find the whereabouts of those responsible, who fled the place. In the same way, this command calls on the inhabitants to report on the toll-free line 147 any action that puts the tranquility and security of the community at risk.
