PRESS RELEASE

The Command of the Vulcano Task Force, a unit attached to the Second Division of the National Army, reports:

1. In the morning hours, troops of the 30th Engineers Battalion, who were carrying out territorial control operations in the Socuavo town of the municipality of Tibú, Norte de Santander, were victims of a mines area, which would have been installed by members of the residual organized armed group Structure 33.

2. As a result of this criminal action, our Soldier Miguel Ángel Natera Sagarra was killed because of the detonation of high-powered explosive devices; three more soldiers were injured, one of them seriously. They are now taken by air to the Duarte Clinic in Cúcuta to receive medical assistance.

3. This command categorically rejects this terrorist operation that attacks human rights and flagrantly violates the international humanitarian law, since it uses unconventional methods of warfare indiscriminately against members of the Military Forces and civilians. In the same way, we made the respective denunciation of this event.

4.  This Command sends a message of condolences and accompaniment to family and partners, joining for the loss of our hero, who gave his life for the security, defense and wellbeing of the department of Norte de Santander; we hope the speedy recovery of our other wounded soldiers.
