Press release

The Joint Task Force Omega, regarding the events that occurred with a joint mission, made up of personnel of the Norwegian Refugee Council and the United Nations Review Mission for Colombia, informs:

1.    In facts that are the subject of investigation, according to preliminary information, this joint mission that was traveling from the sector of the Former Territorial Space of Training and Reincorporation (AETCR) Colinas, towards the municipality of Puerto Cachicamo, of San Jos茅 del Guaviare, was intercepted by unidentified individuals.

2.    Near the sector called Puerto Nuevo, they are forced to leave the vehicles, which had the respective flags and insignia of the international organizations. Two vehicles were incinerated at the place and the staff subsequently returned to AETCR without any damage.

3.    It is appropriate to point out that, through the Specific Command of the East, this group had been advised not to enter the zone until the security measures by the military were established in the area.

4. At this time troops are transported to the area to conduct the respective review of the facts.

5.    This command categorically rejects such terrorist operations that violate human rights and violate the international humanitarian law.

6.    The Joint Task Force Omega, under the principle of harmonious collaboration conducted by the institutions, is ready to assist in any requirement of the authorities to establish who are responsible for these events.
