The Command of the Quiron Task Force, a military unit of the Eighth Division of the National Army, reports:
1. On the last Wednesday night, January 19, a terrorist attack occurred, using a vehicle weaponized with explosives, in the 6 de Octubre neighborhood, in Saravena, Arauca.
The cowardly act occurred near the facilities of the Colombian Agricultural Institute, ICA, and other buildings, including some social organizations, which turns into a direct criminal operation against the civilians of the municipality, perpetrated, according to the first informations, by members of the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Structure 10. This will be confirmed by the investigations.
2. A special security operation was immediately launched to the area to search and investigate.
3. The attack resulted in the murder of one person and the wounding of five others, who were transferred to Sarare Hospital. The explosion in the same way hit several commercial establishments.
4. This Command condemns this serious violation of human rights and international humanitarian law made by the residual GAO, Structure 10, which continues to use illicit methods and means, mainly damaging the good health conditions of civilians.
5. At this time operations are being reinforced in the sector to protect society and establish the whereabouts of those responsible for this terrorist attack.
