Press release

In relation to the events that occurred in the municipality of Anorí, Antioquia, the Command of the Seventh Division reports :

 

1. The first military unit that was sent to the sector La Tirana, in the municipality of Providencia, was attacked with the activation of an explosive device, apparently by members of the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Structure-36

 

2. In this terrorist action, an NCO and a soldier were beaten, and they were taken to a care center, where at this time they are recovering satisfactorily.

 

3. In the second act perpetrated by this gang, in the urban area of the same municipality, another explosive device was activated against a patrol, causing injuries to soldier José Joaquín Álvarez Díaz. The soldier was immediately assisted, but unfortunately he died as a result of the serious wounds caused to him.

 

4. After these cowardly acts occurred, the movement of military units, which are already in the sector, was ordered to find those responsible for these terrorist operations.

 

5. This Command will pose the corresponding denunciations with the Office of the Attorney-General of the Nation for the use of illegal means and methods of warfare, which violates International Humanitarian Law.

 

6. We extend a respectful and sincere greeting of condolences and solidarity to the family and partners of our soldier killed in this terroristoperation.

 

7. The National Army will continue to carry out military operations of operationaloperation against all the factors of instability that alter the security and tranquility of the region.
