Press release

The Command of the Sixteen Brigade, unit of the Eighth Division of the National Army, informs in a preliminary way that:

 

1.    In facts that are the subject of investigation and according to the first information, on the marginal jungle road that connects the municipalities of Paz de Ariporo and Hato Corozal, Casanare, a patrol of the Group of Mounted Cavalry No.16 Guides of Casanare, which was conducting territorial control operations, was the target of a terrorist attack with explosives.

 

2.    Corporal Edison Manuel Buitrago Prada, soldier Diner Inocencio de Dios and Soldier Brayan Esteban Morales Rincón were killed. Three more soldiers were in the same way wounded.

 

3.       This terrorist act in the same way killed one civilian and injured two others.

 

4.    The wounded were evacuated in National Army aircraft to health centers, where at this time they receive specialized medical assistance. In the place are already the authorities, who conduct the urgent acts to establish the time, mode and place of what happened.

 

5.    This terrorist attack, perpetrated on public roads, according to initial reports by the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Structure 28, indiscriminately struck civilians and Military Forces, using unconventional means and methods of warfare; organized armed groups continue to violate international humanitarian law and human rights.

This Unit will make the corresponding denunciations to the authorities.

 

6.    This Command had an interdisciplinary team to accompany the families of our military personnel wounded and killed in this vile event, and sends a feeling of sympathy to the families, comrades and partners of the military killed in the line of duty.
