Press release

Regarding the events that occurred in the rural area of the municipalities of Turbo and Ituango, in the department of Antioquia, the command of the Seventh Division regrets to inform:

 

1.    Units carrying out a motorized movement, on the night of Monday, October 25, in the vicinity of the municipality of Caracol铆, in the municipality of Turbo, were attacked with explosives and rifles by terrorists of the Clan del Golfo, killing three of our soldiers and leaving three more soldiers wounded.

 

2.    In another cowardly criminal operation, this time in the municipality of La Francia in the municipality of Ituango, north of the department, a military unit was attacked by members of the same organized armed group, wounding one of our members of the Military Forces, who was taken to a health center in the city of Monter铆a, where he unfortunately died.

 

3.    These are criminal operations that are the result of the important operations being carried out in this region of the country against drug trafficking, such as Operation Osiris, where alias Otoniel was arrested last Saturday.

 

4.    This Command has received orders from the General Commander of the Army to continue the operation against this criminal structure within the framework of Operation Agamenon.

 

5.    The Institution regrets the murder of our soldiers who were accomplishing their duty, protecting the communities.

 

6.    At the same time, this branch sends a respectful message of solidarity and condolences to the families and partners of our soldiers.

 

The National Army will initiate the necessary denunciations to the authorities and, in compliance with the principle of harmonious cooperation conducted by the institutions, will continue to collaborate in investigations to find the whereabouts of those responsible.
