Forever Hero, first corporal Jhonifer Alexis Maldonado Vargas (R.I.P)
The Command of the Eighteen Brigade, the Military Unit of the Eighth Division, regrets to inform :
1. In the last few hours, troops of the Special Energy and Road Battalion No.16, while in territorial control operations being carried out in the town of Santa Isabel, in the municipality of Arauquita, Arauca, apparently were indiscriminately attacked by members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN, Domingo La铆n S谩nz Front.
2. In this cowardly attack our first corporal Jhonifer Alexis Maldonado Vargas died; this hero of the homeland, born in Neiva, had been in the institution for 11 years and had several recognitions for his performance in the area of operations.
3. In the same incident, our soldier Juan Carlos Montiel Esquivel was wounded, who was immediately given first aid, and so far is recovering satisfactorily in the medical center of the municipality of Saravena.
4. At this time, military operations continue to be carried out in order to find the whereabouts of those responsible for this vile terrorist act that violates human rights and violates international humanitarian law.
5. This Command sends a message of condolences, solidarity to the family and partners of our hero fallen in the line of duty, and will spare no effort for the complete recovery of our wounded personnel.
