In order to strengthen the activities of the State and contribute to improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of Putumayo, the Colombian Navy led a Development Support Activity in the municipality of Puerto Leguizamo, which benefited 1,650 inhabitants of this southern region of the country.
The Commander of the Naval Force of the Amazonas, Vice Admiral Javier Alfonso Jaimes Pinilla, presided over the opening event of the activity, which took place at the School José María Hernández and was carried out thanks to the coordination of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.30 of the Colombian Navy, with government institutions, foundations and private companies. During the activity, specialized medical services were provided in general medicine, physiotherapy, gynecology, mastology, dentistry, pediatrics and psychology.
In addition, rapid HIV tests were conducted and vaccination services were provided to protect children and adults against preventable diseases. Veterinary care was in the same way provided, including sterilization surgeries for dogs and cats, promoting animal care and wellbeing.
During this activity, 19 wheelchairs and humanitarian aid, including food supplements and medicines, were in the same way distributed. The attendees participated in playful integration activities that promoted unity and community well-being.
This activity was possible thanks to the joint work conducted by the Colombian Navy, the Colombian Aerospace Force, the Children and Adolescents Police, the Municipal Mayor's Office of Puerto Leguízamo, the Minuto de Dios Organization Corporation, the Volunteer Fire Department of Puerto Leguízamo, Colsubsidio Drugstores, the foundations Doctor Clown, Fernando Murillo, Sanuteam, the María Angelines Hospital and the Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing - ICBF, who contributed significantly to the success of the activity.
