Recovery of minor who had been allegedly recruited against his will by the Clan del Golfo

Recuperado menor de edad que habría sido reclutado en contra de su voluntad por el “Clan del Golfo”

Troops of the Colombian Navy, in compliance with the mission of safeguarding the life and integrity of the inhabitants, recovered a minor who apparently had been recruited against his will by the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the municipality of Juradó, department of Chocó.

The Navy Infantry Battalion No.23 of Navy Brigade No.2, attached to the Joint Task Force Titan, was carrying out search and area control operations in Jurado - department of Chocó, when the voluntary surrender of a 17-year-old took place.

At the time of the presentation and separation of the group, the minor stated that he had been recruited against his will for two months, by the Urabá Central of the GAO Clan del Golfo in Antioquia, and that he had then been taken to the Pacífico substructure, which commits crimes in the municipality of Juradó in Chocó.

The young man handed over to the members of the Military Forces a magazine and four projectiles. Subsequently, he was put into custody of the Municipal Family Commissariat of Juradó, to restore his rights.

The Colombian Navy ratifies its commitment to the well-being of children, youth and adolescents of the Colombian Pacific, promoting the campaigns of the Ministry of National Defense against forced recruitment.
