The Colombian Navy rescued and provided assistance to two foreigners traveling on a sailboat named Starlight-II, Canadian flag, when the boat presented mechanical failures and left them adrift.

The two men had sailed from Puerto Velero in Barranquilla-Atlántico, heading for Cabo Rojo, a municipality in Puerto Rico. When they made transit through the department of Magdalena their boat had mechanical failures in the propulsion system and generator equipment, leaving them adrift.

The Colombian Navy was informed on the emergency. Through the Santa Marta Primary Coast Guard Station sent a rapid reaction unit to the Playa Arrecife area in the Tayrona National Natural Park, where the sailboat and its two occupants were found by troops. Once there, the foreigners were assisted and hydrated in a Coast Guard unit, where injuries were ruled out. The boat was towed to the bay of Santa Marta.
