In San Gil, an organized crime group called Zafiro, specialized in microtrafficking, has been dismantled

En San Gil, desarticulado grupo de delincuencia organizada denominado Zafiro, dedicado al microtráfico

Among those arrested is alias Samuelito, ringleader of the organization, which mainly disturbed the good health condition of children and young people in the tourist capital city of Santander.

In compliance with the Ayacucho Plan, National Army troops, in coordination with the Police and the Attorney General's Office, dismantled an organized crime group called Zafiro, which specialized in the marketing of narcotics in several sectors of the municipality of San Gil, Santander.

Through search warrants issued by the judicial procedures, soldiers of the Field Artillery Battalion No. 5 and members of the Military Forces of the SIJIN and Sipol, found and arrested ten members of this gang in the urban area of the municipality. Among those arrested, nine men and one woman, is alias Samuelito, who would be the ringleader of the organization and one more individual who is being held in a specialized center.

These arrests were possible thanks to coordinated intelligence work that for a year had been following the trail of these criminals who, apparently, transported the hallucinogenic substances of the south of Bolívar through human couriers or parcels to distribute them among the young people of the municipality through social networks or personally.

Those arrested will have to respond for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking and carrying narcotics and were put into custody of the authority for their prosecution process.
