More than 6,693 people have benefited of the work carried out by the Humanitarian Demining Engineer Battalion No.1, who for 6 years worked tirelessly to clear 111,950 m2.

Using the manual demining technique and non-technical studies, the demining soldiers of Colombian National Army work in the department of Caquet谩, reaching the Yurayaco and El Portal indigenous communities. During the work, 39 sectors were intervened and 42 cases with explosive devices were investigated, destroying 36 anti-personnel mines.

The work of the Brigade has been of vital importance for the community, since, thanks to that work, its inhabitants will be able to resume their daily activities and routines with tranquility from today.

Simultaneously, the Humanitarian Demining Engineers Brigade carried out community activities such as the construction of the Patio Bonito School playground, the arrangement and maintenance of the Yurayaco sports center, as well as recreational activities, health care and wellness activities, as well as fairs where farmers and entrepreneurs marketed their products, thus contributing to the reactivation of the department's economy.

In addition to the above, 236 mine risk education activities were carried out, which benefited 1629 people of the community, thus reducing the risk of loss due to this problem.

Other activities carried out were oriented to the protection of the environment, contributing to the reforestation, protection and conservation of ecosystems, for which 3400 native trees of the region were planted.

The operation of our demining soldiers goes beyond the clearing of a territory, it is to restore hope to its inhabitants, generating new opportunities and development for its inhabitants.
