Cartagena. The School of Fluvial Operations, aware of its responsibility in the conservation of flora and fauna in Colombia, carried out activities aimed at creating environmental awareness in the national and international training courses that take place in its facilities, in the Gulf of Urabá.
In the course of two years, the School has planted 400 mangrove trees with which the reforestation of the beach has begun, 100 coconut palms, 200 almond trees, 40 trees of mango and guanábana, fruit trees that constitute an important source of food for some animals such as the lazy bear, the iguana and different types of birds in the sector, as well as 800 ornamental plants and corals that harmonize with the environment making this a benchmark of ecological culture to recover this valuable ecosystem.
Today, the School of Fluvial Operations has a nursery or seedbed where arboreal types of the region are cultivated to continue the process of reforestation.
In this way, the National Navy will continue working and training its men and women to guarantee the protection of ecosystems, implementing ecological culture in our country and other countries of the world who come to visit us.
