The operation was supported by an aircraft of the Joint and Interagency Task Force of the United States Southern Command - JIAFTS.
Within the framework of naval operations carried out by Colombian Navy units in the North Pacific, it was possible to confiscate about a ton of marijuana, which was being transported aboard a boat manned by two Panamanians and a Colombian.
Thanks to information provided by Naval Intelligence, which alerted about the activity of a boat that was traveling suspiciously in the waters of the North Pacific, and with the support of the Joint and Interagency Task Force of the Southern Command of the United States - JIATFS, units of the Bahía Solano Coast Guard Station moved to the area, in order to carry out the corresponding operations.
When carrying out the maritime interception operation, it was evident that the ship was transporting eight plastic barrels with fuel, communication equipment and 33 bags that, due to their characteristics, would resemble illicit substances.
The individuals and elements were taken to the facilities of the Bahía Solano Coast Guard Station, where the personnel of the Technical Investigation Corps - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH, determining that it was 853.7 units of marijuana. The individuals and elements were put into custody of the authorities for the due process of prosecution.
Through this result, the entry of more than eight million dollars into the finances of criminal structures and the marketing of more than 141 thousand doses of narcotics on the streets of the world were prevented.
The Colombian Navy reaffirms its commitment to the struggle against drug trafficking, contributing to keeping the Colombian Pacific free of transnational crimes that hit the tranquility and free development of communities.
