In a military operation in the rural area of Pitalito, over the weekend Army troops found 1,500 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride and arrested an individual in flagrante delicto. The drug would be destined abroad and would belong to the residual organized armed group, GAO-r, Comandos de Frontera.
Within the framework of the Murus Operations Plan and as part of the operations against the illicit activities of groups outlaw, troops of the 27th Magdalena Infantry Battalion, attached to the Ninth Brigade of Colombian National Army, in coordination with the Brigade Against Drug Trafficking and the Transit and Transport Section of the National Police, reported the finding of one and a half tons of cocaine hydrochloride in the south east of the department of Huila.
The events were reported in the village of El Cedro, in the municipality of Pitalito, where, through a checkpoint at the El Cable Military Base, the troops made the stop signal to a tractor-trailer.
During the search, and thanks to the experience of the soldiers, a hidden hideout was found in the fifth wheel of the vehicle, in the hitch system with the trailer, where approximately 1500 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride were found by troops.
During the procedure, the driver of the car was arrested in flagrante delicto, who was put into custody of the Attorney General's Office and will be charged with the crime of carrying, trafficking and manufacturing narcotics.
According to the investigations, the drug was of the department of Putumayo and would have gone to other countries. The substance found would belong to the residual organized armed group Comandos de Frontera, a criminal structure specialized in drug trafficking. Through this operation, it is estimated that the damage to their illicit finances exceeds 14,000 million pesos.
Through this operation, it was possible to remove more than 45 million doses of the illegal market, preventing serious damage to public health and significantly weakening the structures of drug trafficking in the region.
