Within the framework of the Ayacucho Operations Plan, troops of the Eighteenth Brigade, in a coordinated and interagency operation with the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, reported arrests, by court order, of alias Monchi, second ringleader of the Terrorism Support Network of the Camilo Cienfuegos Group, of the GAO ELN.
According to military intelligence work, alias Monchi would be the main responsible and financial coordinator of this armed structure. His role was to manage and transport resources obtained through the forced displacement of peasants and the appropriation of banana-producing farms, whose products were marketed on a large scale in depots in Bogotá.
The profits generated by this illicit activity were subsequently reinvested in the armed structure, through the acquisition of logistical elements and military accessories, strengthening its criminal capacity in the region.
The operation was carried out simultaneously in the village of La Laguna, the village of La Pesquera and the urban area of the municipality of Arauquita, where alias Calilla, alias Perro and alias Zancudo, members of its criminal component, were in the same way arrested.
