More than two billion pesos was the economic impact on this criminal gang who perpetrated the illegal exploitation of natural resources.

In the place known as La Perdigona, a joint operation was carried out led by the Tequendama Cavalry Group No. 10 of the Thirteenth Brigade and the Illegal Mining Brigade of the National Army, in coordination and support with the Colombian Air Force, the National Police and interagency with the Mayor's Office of Usme and the District Secretary of the Environment.

Six people were caught and put into prison, accused for the crimes of illegal mining, damage to natural resources, environmental pollution, Tunjuelito River basin affectation, illegal capture of water resources, pollution and invasion of this river.

The authorities found and seized three chargers-type vehicles, a double dump truck and three motor pumps, which were put into custody of the Attorney's office, in the Immediate Reaction Unit of the locality of Ciudad Bolivar.

According to investigations and witness statements, these illegal environmental destruction activities have been going on for about eight years in the area. This operation is a heavy blow to the illegal exploitation of natural resources and environmental pollution.

In this way, an estimated economic impact of more than two billion pesos is dealt to this group; this would correspond to the machinery seized, as well as the monthly income for these criminal gangs who destroy natural resources.
