Within the framework of the Democracy Plan, several Explosives and Demolition teams of Colombian National Army will enter this area of the south of the department to begin the work of destroying the explosive devices that constantly blocked this village.

In addition to the 150 soldiers of the Urban Special Forces Battalion No.3, who are already in the village of El Plateado, rural area of Argélia, Cauca, troops skilled in handling explosives will in the same way be deployed, which will contribute to the security of the inhabitants in the frame of the regional elections.

The mission of all these soldiers will be to provide comprehensive security against the criminal operations of organized armed groups in this sector. In the same way, the troops will restore tranquility to the inhabitants, given that there has been evidence of the installation of anti-personnel mines near the urban area of these people and side roads, attacking people's right to vote being this a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.

It should be noted that this year, Colombian National Army has found and destroyed more than 900 anti-personnel mines in the municipality of Argelia, an operation that has led to strengthening the mobility of the communities that inhabit the upper part of this village.
