In Norte de Santander the wave caused by rains began approximately four months ago.

Soldiers of the National Army, in coordination with the municipal administration and disaster response institutions, helpedthe people of Ocaña, who were hit by the rising of the Tejo River, due to the wave caused by rains that hits the department.

In the early hours of this Thursday, more than 1,000 people were hit, due to the damage caused by the heavy rains that overflowed the Tejo River, generating damage to the bridge, which connects the departments of Norte de Santander, Santander and El Cesar.

Soldiers of the Comprehensive Action and Development Support Battalion No.2 and the Battalion No.15 in coordination with the Fire department, the National Unit for Risk and Disaster Management, the municipal administration and Invías joined efforts to clear the Tejo River, in which plants material and debris were impeding traffic and restraining the flow of water, flooding the bridge and closing the traffic of vehicles, as well as putting at risk the inhabitants of the sector.

After this effective and timely operation, the residents of the area thanked the National Army for its willingness, help and commitment to the community, preventing major damage.

Currently, Norte de Santander has multiple types of impacts such as landslides, deterioration in the road network, collapse of houses, human losses, belongings and animals, among others.
